Valuation

Porsche 996 Valuation Calculator.

Select your specification. Every valuation is computed from verified auction hammer prices — no asking prices, no estimates dressed as data.

miles

Drives both the model estimate and the band check; no mileage cap.

Maintenance & factory options

Only adjustments measured in our verified sales data are applied. The rest are tracked and switch on when the data supports a number. The factory hardtop (above, cabriolets) currently shows no measurable premium in the data.

How the valuation works.

The headline number comes from a regression fitted to the verified sales — 494 stock cars once modified builds are set aside. It prices your car from its variant, mileage, transmission and body, with the market's drift over time and the differences between auction venues held constant, and it is always priced at the current month. The range around it is an 80% prediction interval — where most comparable cars actually land — not the widest and narrowest sales ever recorded.

Underneath, the band lookup still runs as a check: the median of your exact variant-and-mileage band from 2021 onward. When the band and the model disagree by more than 20%, the result says so and shows the comps. Hammer prices exclude the buyer's fee, so a buyer's all-in cost at auction runs higher than any figure here. Full methodology.

A valuation is a starting point for research, not an appraisal. Condition, service history, options, and color move real cars outside any band.

Questions, answered plainly.

Are these hammer prices or asking prices?

Hammer prices — the winning bid at auction, with the buyer's fee excluded. Asking prices are tracked in a separate dataset and are never blended into these valuations, because asking prices run systematically above what cars actually sell for.

How many sales is my valuation based on?

The dataset holds 543 verified auction sales across Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids, PCarMarket, Collecting Cars and Hemmings, from 2017 to today. The valuation model is fitted to 494 of them — every stock car, with modified builds set aside — and the count beside your result is the number of verified sales behind your variant. The band check under the estimate uses 437 sales from 2021 onward.

What does IMS work do to a 996's value?

In the valuation regression — 494 verified sales, with variant, mileage, transmission, body, venue and sale date held constant — a documented IMS bearing replacement adds about 9.6% for the M96-engine cars (Carrera, Carrera 4, 4S, Targa). The tool applies it when you tick the IMS box — and the premium attaches to the paperwork, so keep the dated invoice.

Why is a specific car priced outside the range?

The likely range is an 80% prediction interval, so about one comparable car in five still sells outside it. Condition, service history, options, colour and presentation are the usual reasons — the model can't see them, so it prices the typical car and shows its work. Variants with few sales behind them (GT3, GT2, Turbo S) are flagged low-confidence on the result.
